A commemorative event marking the 35th anniversary of the January 20 tragedy was held at the Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA).

Rovshan Ismayilov, Deputy Chairman of the AERA Board, in an opening speech at the event said that January 20 represents a heroic chapter in the history of the Azerbaijani people. He emphasized that this tragedy could not break the will of the Azerbaijani people, it instead strengthened their resolve to fight for their independence.

R. Ismayilov noted that the issue of giving a full political and legal assessment of the January 20 tragedy at the state level was resolved after the return of National Leader Heydar Aliyev to power at the insistent demand of the people of Azerbaijan.

R. Ismayilov, noting that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan have been restored under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, who continues the political course of the Great Leader, emphasized that the memory of the martyrs is always commemorated with deep respect.
