Today, Samir Akhundov, Chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA), spoke at the session on "Nakhchivan's green energy potential export opportunities to Turkey and European markets" within the "Nakhchivan - Green Energy Zone" international conference.

Samir Akhundov noted that the share of renewable energy sources in the total installed capacity of power plants is increasing year by year, emphasizing that Nakhchivan has a rich green energy potential. He also spoke about the importance of the measures implemented within the framework of the "State Program for the socio-economic development of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for 2023-2027" and the agreements signed on green energy.

In addition, S. Akhundov said that within the Azerbaijan-Turkey-Europe electricity corridor project, the measures were implemented in the direction of the construction of the electricity transmission line to Turkey, as well as the connection of the energy system of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to the network of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) and by increasing its export potential, it creates new opportunities for the region to become a place of international cooperation.
