A MoU signed between regulatory bodies of Azerbaijan and Moldova

On May 20, within the visit of the of the National Energy Regulatory Agency of Moldova (ANRE) led by General Director of ANRE Alexei Taran to Azerbaijan, the Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA) hosted the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in energy regulation between the two regulatory authorities.

The document was signed by Samir Akhundov, Chairman of the Board of AERA, and Alexei Taran, General Director of ANRE.

The MoU aims to establish and develop a direct dialogue on bilateral and regional energy market regulatory issues, ensure effective information exchange in case of emergencies or extraordinary circumstances impacting the regional energy market, as well as consolidate the cooperation by organizing various events to exchange experience in drafting and implementing regulatory reforms according to the best international practices.

It should be noted that within the framework of the visit, discussions were held between the parties on current challenges and possible solutions in gas market monitoring, integration of renewable energy sources into the grid and increasing their share in the total energy mix, as well as measures to strengthen energy resilience.
