The energy regulators of Azerbaijan and Turkey discussed the role of digitalization and hydrogen in the energy markets

Next meeting was held between the experts of the Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA) and the Energy Market Regulatory Authority of Turkey (EMRA).

During the meeting, Turkey's experience on digitalization and the role of hydrogen in energy markets was shared with AERA experts. Thus, EMRA's energy expert Zuhre Aydın made a presentation on "Digitalization in Energy Markets" and gave information about the digital transformation of the Turkish energy market, the role of the regulator in this process, as well as risks and opportunities, informed participants about new business models and cyber security in energy markets.

Talking about the role of hydrogen in the future energy markets, Shuheda Okumush, Head of Complementary Markets and Alternative Fuels Group of EMRA, drew attention to the potential of green hydrogen and Turkey's opportunities in this field.

The meeting ended with the discussion of the mentioned issues.

It should be noted that within the 2022-2023 years Inter-Forum Action Plan of the "Regulation" Working Group of the Azerbaijan-Turkey II Energy Forum, regular meetings were held between AERA and EMRA in order to study Turkey's experience in the field of energy.
