On September 17, an online meeting of the General Assembly of the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA) took place. The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Board of the Energy Regulatory Agency of Azerbaijan Samir Akhundov.
Opening the meeting, the participants and guests were greeted by the ERRA Chairman, General Director of the Estonian Competition Organization Mart Ots.
The former heads of regulatory bodies of Saudi Arabia and Hungary were then elected as honorary members of ERRA. The meeting discussed the associative membership of the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, East Africa, France and the full membership of Thailand, and also approved the membership of these countries by voting.
Participants were informed about the relevant agencies of several countries that do not pay membership fees to ERRA.
Regulators Christina Casa and Ardian Berisha made a presentation on the work done by ERRA on various projects, events, webinars and podcasts from May 2019 to August 2020. Then the meeting discussed ERRA's financial report, budget, work plan for the next year, and the issues were voted on.
Representatives of Turkey, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Georgia, North Macedonia, Estonia, Austria, Albania and Hungary were elected members of the Presidium of the organization.
The meeting also elected a new chairman and deputy chairman of ERRA. Maya Melikidze, member of the Georgian National Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, was elected as the new chairman of ERRA for a two-year term, and Pal Sagvari, deputy chairman of the Hungarian Energy and Utilities Regulatory Authority, was elected as ERRA deputy chairman. In addition, the members of the financial committee of the organization were elected by voting.
At the ERRA General Assembly, certificates were presented to representatives of regulatory authorities of countries hosting a number of events and seminars of the organization.
At the end of the meeting, the participants were informed in detail about the participation of ERRA member regulatory bodies in various donor projects.
Please note that the Energy Regulatory Agency of Azerbaijan has been an associate member of the Regional Energy Regulators Association (ERRA) since April 2018.
