EXIST shared Türkiye's experience on the electricity and natural gas market with Azerbaijani experts

Within the framework of the Action Plan of the "Regulation" Working Group of Azerbaijan-Türkiye II Energy Forum, a two-day seminar was organized by the Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA) at the Energy Exchange Istanbul (EXIST), the operator of the electricity and natural gas market of Türkiye.

The seminar was carried out in the direction of the implementation of the event "Selection of electric energy production capacities by the transmitter based on the criterion of economic efficiency in order to prepare for the organization of the wholesale market" of the Action Plan of the "Socio-economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2022-2026".

The members of the working group formed by the representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and representatives of "Azerenergy" OJSC took part in the seminar.

Within the seminar, Turkish experts provided detailed information on the operation of electricity and natural gas markets in transparent and competitive conditions, mutual relations between market participants, market regulation and monitoring. At the same time, EXIST Chief Executive Officer Ahmet Turkoglu said that they are ready to provide all kinds of support for the creation of the energy market in Azerbaijan.

Hikmet Hasanov, co-chairman of Azerbaijan-Türkiye II Energy Forum "Regulation" working group, head of Strategic planning and innovation department of AERA, noted that Türkiye is an example in establishing liberal market relations, ensuring transparency and forming an attractive investment environment. He also expressed his gratitude to the other party for their support to Azerbaijan in the field of liberalization of electricity and natural gas markets and formation of a competitive environment.

The seminar continued in an interactive form with answers to the questions of Azerbaijani experts.
