Rasul Allahverdiyev, who joined AERA in 2021 as a Leading Specialist, studied “Banking and Finance” at the Middle East Technical University in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
With experience in both private and public finance sectors, Rasul Allahverdiyev currently serves as a Senior Specialist in the Finance Department at AERA.
How would you describe your role at AERA?
Executing my duties as an accountant and helping to streamline the Agency’s financial policies are among my top priorities.
Staying informed of updated laws pertaining to my profession, monitoring the Agency’s financial indicators, calculating incomes and expenses, and preparing tax declarations are integral parts of my activity.
What aspects of your job do you enjoy the most?
The popularity of a profession often springs from the prevalence of its advantages. Among these, I would definitely like to mention the stable job opportunities within our country, the application of constantly updated financial expertise, and, most importantly, the integration of innovative programs into this profession. But let’s not forget that accounting demands a strong interest in mathematics and finance, and is also sometimes stressful.
What qualities are essential for someone pursuing a career in accounting?
Accounting demands discipline in financial processes, attentiveness and analytical thinking, mathematical and communication skills, as well as a knowledge of legal fundamentals. Accounting offers numerous benefits, including a stable career, competitive salaries, and opportunities for professional growth. Before choosing this field, it is crucial to evaluate one’s interest in mathematics and finance, and consider pursuing professional training if necessary.
Additionally, obtaining professional accounting certifications can help career advancement. Examples include the CFA, ACCA and Chartered Accountant certifications.

In accounting, digitalization involves utilizing digital tools and software to execute business processes more effectively, as well as reduce errors. This includes transitioning from traditional paper-based methods to new approaches, such as digital record-keeping, cloud-based accounting software, automation tools, and data analytics.
The readiness of accountants for digital transformation can vary among individuals and organizations. Accountants can undoubtedly enhance their operations by using digital tools and software. However, some may find this transition difficult. Therefore, access to education and technological infrastructure are crucial for preparing to digitalization.
