Ulvi Gadirli, the Lead Inspector at the Mingachevir Branch of the Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA), spoke to the Career Blog about his work at the Agency.
Ulvi Gadirli earned his Bachelor’s degree in Information Technologies and Systems Engineering from the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy (now Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University – ASOIU) and a Master’s degree in Business Organization and Management from the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC). He is currently pursuing part-time doctoral studies in General Economics at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics.
Ulvi Gadirli, who started working at AERA in 2018 as an inspector in the Kurdamir Branch, continued working in Mingachevir and Shaki branches in 2020-2023. Since 2024, he has been working as a Lead Inspector of the Mingachevir Branch.
How would you describe your work at AERA?
Implementing existing regulatory and legal acts in the gas supply sector and prioritizing citizen satisfaction constitute the core of my role.
I am closely involved in investigation of citizen appeals related to gas supply, issuance of permits for industrial gas facilities, and implementation of control measures. I also prepare reports on the measures arising from the branch’s activities and, additionally, I provide suggestions for improvements.
What drives your interest in the field you work in?
My interest in the oil and gas sector began during my preparation for higher education. The energy sector is crucial in the modern world. Our country’s rich energy resources and related international energy projects have further fueled my enthusiasm for this field.
You have worked as a gas inspector in several branches of AERA. What do you find most important in your activities?
Yes, I have worked as a gas inspector at Kurdamir, Shaki and Mingachevir branches. I have always paid special attention to being responsible and maintaining teamwork.
In order to become a highly trained specialist in the energy sector, I consider it important to deeply learn the related legislation, to be always motivated to improve yourself, as well as to develop the ability to research and analyze.
What aspects of your job do you love most?
I am enhancing my theoretical and practical knowledge to accurately address citizen requests related to gas supply, and working hard to this end is one of the favorite parts of my job. Working with a team that is consistently developing itself is an additional source of motivation for me.
