Turkish energy regulator shared experience with AERA on licensed and unlicensed electricity generation, as well as support mechanisms for renewable energy sources

The next online meeting was held between the Energy Regulatory Agency of Azerbaijan (AERA) and the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) in line with the two-stage cooperation plan for 2022. At the meeting, EMRA representatives shared their experience with AERA experts on the licensed model for electricity generation and wind and solar power distribution auctions in Turkey, as well as the support mechanisms for unlicensed electricity generation and renewable energy sources.

Opening the meeting, Head of the International Relations Group of the Strategic Development Department of EMRA, Mehmet Kurkcu, and Senior Specialist of the Strategic Planning and Innovations Department of AERA, Elmar Gulaliyev, stressed the importance of the continuation of such meetings and expressed satisfaction with mutual cooperation.

Gokay Kütükcü, EMRA's energy specialist made a presentation on a licensed model for electricity generation and wind and solar power distribution auctions in Turkey. G. Kütükçü also provided information on the procedure for issuing pre-licenses and further required documents.

Sevim Kalkan, EMRA's energy specialist, shared Turkey's experience in her presentation on the support mechanisms for the unlicensed electricity generation and renewable energy sources.

The meeting ended with an interactive question and answer session.
