The next online meeting of the chairmen, presidents and commissioners of the Regional Association of Energy Regulators (ERRA) was held on October 28. The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Board of the Energy Regulatory Agency of Azerbaijan Samir Akhundov.

Opening the meeting, the Chairman of ERRA Maya Melikidze, a member of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC), greeted the participants.

After that ERRA regulation specialist, Ardian Berisha spoke on "Exchange rate risk and tariff regulation." Gochia Chitidze from GNERC's Tariff and Economic Analysis Department, Abdul Cebbar Karaoglu, Energy Expert of the Turkish Energy Markets Regulatory Authority (EMRA), Jeffrey Mabea, Executive Secretary of the East African Energy Regulators Association (EREA) gave reports and held discussions on the topic, citing examples from existing practice.

Discussing the topic named “Judgments and regulation: litigation with regulated bodies, types of disputes (tariffs, market rules, etc.), Rolands Irklis, ERRA Presidium Member, Chairperson of the Latvian Public Utilities Commission (PUC), Daniela Dan from Legal Department regulator of Moldova, presented examples from existing practice.

Saud al-Dalbahi Meshari, an engineer of the Saudi Electricity and Cogeneration Regulatory Authority (ECRA), spoke on the regulation of cooling in the area.

Graeme Lindsay Sims, Executive Director of the Dubai Electricity and Water Regulation and Supervision Bureau of the United Arab Emirates, and Khadija Hassan Bin Braik, Director of Water, Pricing and Tariffs, Abu Dhabi Energy Department (DoE) of the United Arab Emirates presented examples pf current practice and discussed it with the participants.

Tamás Tóth, Vice President for General Affairs of the Hungarian Energy and Utilities Regulatory Authority, made a presentation on "Hydrogen decarbonization policy and regulatory practice of ERRA members", after his speech, Commissioner of the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) Ivan Fochaux also spoke with a presentation.

After that, under the guidance of the Director of International Relations in Austrian E - Control, member of the ERRA Presidium Dietmar Preinstorferun, the participants shared their views and opinions on the topic.

At the end of the meeting, Andrijana Nelkova-Chuchuk, a member of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and the ERRA Presidium of Northern Macedonia, briefed the participants on the work of the ERRA Internal Committee and future ERRA programs.

It should be noted that the Energy Regulatory Agency of Azerbaijan has been an associate member of the Union of Regional Energy Regulators (ERRA) since April 2018.
